A multi-disciplinary view of the asteroid impact which hit Limousin 201 million years ago.
Presenting our researches, we review the Earth’s mass extinctions; look in detail at what France was like in the Rhaetian age; what flora and fauna were present; the Rhaetian atmosphere; the geological evidence for the impact; and the nature of the object which hit the region. We consider how the impact would have contributed to a species mass extinction that occurred at the same time.
We also provide a guide for visitors to the region to be able to explore sites of topical interest and what to look out for. Suitable for all readers (aged 12 and above).
